RSVP for a Flu shot at St. Martin’s on Wednesday, September 19! We are so fortunate that the father of one of our students at St. Martin’s Episcopal School is a CVS pharmacist, and he and has offered us this opportunity. CVS pharmacists are certified to give immunizations.
Who: St. Martin’s families and friends who are 7 years old and up
What: A CVS flu shot clinic
When: Wednesday, September 19, 8:30 – 10:30 am
Where: in St. Martin’s Episcopal School gym
Why: The flu season is here and the flu can attack anyone
Cost: With health insurance, there is no cost. Bring your insurance card and prescription card if you have one. Without insurance, the cost is $20 (a $20 savings). In addition, everyone who gets the shot will get a $5 coupon to spend at any CVS pharmacy.
About the vaccine: CVS offers the quad vaccine, which is four strains for better protection (other pharmacies usually have the three-strain only). They will also have the high dose, which is recommended for seniors. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends flu vaccines, saying, “Flu vaccination has important benefits. It can reduce flu illnesses, doctors’ visits, and missed work and school due to flu, as well as prevent flu-related hospitalizations. Flu vaccine also has been shown to be life-saving in children. In fact, a 2017 study showed that flu vaccination can significantly reduce a child’s risk of dying from flu.”
RSVP: Please RSVP if you plan to use this opportunity so the pharmacist will know the appropriate number of immunizations to bring. Email firstname.lastname@example.org. and use FLU SHOT for the subject line, and let us know how many people in your family, including yourself, plan to get the flu shot. You can call the school office at 817-337-4625 and give that information, too.
